The problem
When a JSM request needs approval, Jira sends each approver one email — ever. If it lands during a holiday, gets buried, or the approver's portal account was never confirmed, the request silently stalls. Teams have been asking Atlassian for reminders since 2018; the official workaround is a fragile automation hack that can't re-send the actual approval email.
What Approval Nudge does
- Detects every request stuck in "Waiting for approval" past your threshold.
- Reminds only the approvers who haven't answered — @mentioned by name, on your cadence, with caps so nobody gets spammed.
- Re-sends the native approval email — Jira's own message with working one-click Approve / Decline buttons.
- Escalates to a fallback person when nothing moves.
- Flags unreachable approvers — people who never receive approval email at all (unconfirmed accounts). No other app detects this.
Safe by design
Never touches an approval that already has a recorded decision. Every action is verified and rolled back-safe, with a full audit trail in the request panel.
Runs on Atlassian
Built on Forge with zero egress: no external servers, no data leaving your Atlassian Cloud site. History stores account IDs, not names.
